Winnie Claire Partin, age 94, left this world for her heavenly home on May 17, 2023. She was born November 7, 1928 in Tate County, Mississippi, the daughter of Lizzie and Gus O’Neal Sr. Winnie was employed by the William Carter Company for 20 years before becoming a house parent for the Baptist Children’s Village in Jackson. She enjoyed 15yrs there and touched many young lives. She retired in 1990 and moved to the Mooreville area. Her hobbies included spoiling her great-grandchildren, keeping up with the news, crossword puzzles and playing cards. Every morning Winnie enjoyed her coffee and poptarts as she began her day. She was an avid sports fan and loved her Mississippi State Bulldogs. Winnie was a faithful member of Auburn Baptist Church and loved her ladies Sunday School Class.
She leaves behind her daughter, Sandra Curbow (Steve); her sister, Shirley Walton; her daughter-in-law Lorraine Harrison; grandchildren, Kim Denton and Kevin Carlisle (Dawn); step-grandson, Britt Curbow (Laura); great-grandchildren, Kirsten McComb (Anthony), Ava Denton, Parker Carlisle, Spencer Carlisle; step-great-grandchildren, Victoria Walden (Patrick), Kaytee Beth Curbow, and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry Carlisle; brothers, Boyd O’Neal, Robert Earl O’Neal, Jack O’Neal, Gus O’Neal Jr., Russell O’Neal, Homer O’Neal, and James K. O’Neal; sisters, Dorothy Murchison, Ethel Wilson, Mattie Whitehouse, Bernice Pritchard, and Orene Carlisle.
Services honoring Winnie’s memory will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Troy McConnell officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Carlisle, Parker Carlisle, Spencer Carlisle, Caleb Cain, Britt Curbow, and Anthony McComb. Mike Walton will serve as honorary pallbearer.
