Winnie “Gran-Gran” Banker
Saltillo- Winnie “Gran-Gran” Banker, 83, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the hospice unit of North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in New Albany March 30, 1935 to George and Zelma Floyd Jones. On December 15, 1983, she married James Banker. Winnie worked as a beautician for most of her adult life. She enjoyed quilting and cooking and loved her friends and family. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, James Banker; five children, Kitda Ariail and her husband, Mike of Mobile, Alabama, Janice Cole of Petal, Janet Wedge and her husband, Bobby of West, Christy Phillips of Shelby, Alabama and Kenny Hanson and his wife, Judy of Saltillo; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Shelia Jones; three sisters; and two brothers.
Visitation will be 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Saltillo.
Services honoring her life will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Mike Ariail and Rev. Merle Floyd officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brooke Jernigan, Linda Mitchell, Amy Shankle, Amy Chisholm, Dorothy Slater and Reba Floyd.
