Wilson T. " Sam " Anglin

July 7, 1920 — August 30, 2006

Saltillo - Wilson T. "Sam Anglin, 86, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. A Pontotoc native, he was born July 7, 1920 to the late Eric Troy and Rhoda Eliza Ann Cleveland Anglin. He was a US Army veteran having served with the 101st Airborn Company G Paratroopers Division during World War II. He faught in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star during his tour of duty. He was a retired cattleman and farmer. He loved his family and spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved to be called "Poppa" by his family. He was a member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Len Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Jan Helms and husband, Ron; two sons, Paul Anglin and wife, Linda, and Roger Anglin and wife, Tammy; one sister, Patricia Standford, all of Saltillo; two brothers, Harvey Anglin and William C. Anglin and wife, Sue, all of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Paula Carpenter and husband, Brian, Angela Anglin of Oxford, Misty Montague and husband Curtiss, of French Camp, Wendy White and husband, Brandon, of Guntown, Amanda Sanders and husband, Greg, of Baldwyn, Miranda Sanders and husband, Chris, of Guntown, Alaina Anglin and Zack Anglin, both of Saltillo; nine great-grandchildren, Houston White, Cady Lane White, Ben Carpenter, Carrie Pannell, Johnny Pannell, Alexis Moore, Savannah Sanders, Brianna Sanders, and Landon Sanders.

He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Anglin, who died March 8, 2005

Pallbearers will be Wilson Causey, Dan Sullivan, Jimmy Bucy, Ricky Stanford, Josh Sullivan, and Brian Carpenter

Calvin Holloway and Mansell Robison will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
