WILSON REEDER
Tupelo - Robert Wilson Reeder passed away surrounded by his family and friends at North Mississippi Medical Center on September 14, 2017, at the age of 24. Wilson was born on July 13, 1993, in Tupelo, to Jeff and Lee Reeder. Wilson was beloved by everyone who knew him. His smile could light up a room and make everyone feel loved and special. He was the complete outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends. Sports were his other loves. Wilson excelled at baseball and soccer. However, his greatest love was golf. He started playing golf before he even knew how to walk well. When he was two, he picked up his first club while riding with his mother and his grandmother when they played golf. He quickly graduated from his plastic set to old cut-down clubs. Wilson had a God-given gift that he nurtured to become one of the greatest youth golfers in Mississippi. He started playing competitively at an early age on the Coca-Cola Tour winning many tournaments and division titles. He began playing for Tupelo High School golf team in the eighth grade. He helped win five Division Six State Championships in a row. When he was a sophomore in the 2010 State Championship, Wilson shot an amazing 29 on the back nine for a comeback victory for the Golden Wave. Wilson, always the fierce competitor, was heavily involved in the Mississippi Junior Golf Association and other regional golf tours. He always was a regular top finisher if not the winner. Some of his impressive golf accomplishments were 2010 Beau Chene Invitational Medalist, 2010 Third place medalist State High School Championship, and 2011 Second place medalist State High School Championship. After graduating from Tupelo High School in 2012, he went on to play golf at Itawamba Community College. He obtained an Associate’s Degree from ICC in 2015.
When Wilson was not on the golf course, he enjoyed playing with his dog Earl or watching old John Wayne movies with his dad. He was the consummate gentleman and always humble and kind. He would give anyone the shirt off his back if he saw the need. Wilson was loved by his family and friends. He and his million-dollar smile will be missed.
