WILMA CHISHOLM Tupelo - Wilma Williams Chisholm, 85, died Monday, January 5, 2015, at the Green Houses at Traceway after a lengthy illness. She was born October 8, 1929, in Lee County to Otho and Elizabeth Williams. Wilma graduated from Tupelo High School in 1947 where she was a member of the basketball team and band. In 1951, Wilma graduated from Mississippi State College for Women with a Degree in Education. While at MSCW, she was member of the Maskers social club. Wilma spent most of her teaching career in adult basic education at Itawamba Junior College. She was honored as teacher of the year in 1989 by MAPCAE . She retired in 1991. Wilma was involved in Ladies Junior Auxiliary of Tupelo. She volunteered with Hospice and the Lee County Library. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school secretary for many years. Her favorite past time was playing bridge and spending time with special friends and relatives. Wilma married Jimmy Chisholm in 1952. They were married for 43 years. She is survived by two sons, Jim and Vic (Jan) Chisholm of Saltillo and son-in-law, Philip Graham of Black Zion. Wilma was blessed to have two grandsons, Jake (Jill) Chisholm and Drew (fiancé Kasi). She also had three special great-grandchildren, Molly, McKenna and Brantley. Also many cousins, nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy Chisholm and one daughter, Beth Graham. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Steve Hurt officiating. A private family graveside service will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Pallbearers will be Jake Chisholm, Drew Chisholm, Curtis Ryan, Mark Christian, Daniel Christian and Jonathan Christian. Memorials may be made to any charity of choice.
