PalmettoWillie D. Billy Pannell, Jr., 72, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at his residence in the Palmetto community after an extended illness. A Blue Springs native, he was born May 22, 1935 to the late Willie and Orelia Lessell Pannell. He was retired from Jessco where he worked as a mechanic and a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. He loved going fishing, his dog, Peanut, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Walter Prather officiating. Burial will be in Ellistown Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 52 years, Doris Hester Pannell of Palmetto; two daughters, Nora Robinson and Danny of Palmetto, and Regina Raven and Roy of Saltillo; two sons, Dean Pannell of Palmetto and Dennis Pannell of Sundoval, Ill.; two sisters, Mildred Calmes and Marion, and Linda Holmes and James, all of Saltillo; three brothers, David Pannell of Saltillo, Johnny Pannell and Brenda of Guntown, and Jimmy Pannell of Baldwyn; two special nephews, John and William Hester of Saltillo; ten grandchildren, Ginger Pannell, Allison Pannell, Chris Pannell, William Pannell, Leslie Raven and Melany Raven, all of Saltillo, Traci Robinson and Amanda Robinson, both of Palmetto, and KayLeigh Pannell and Lacy Pannell of Sundoval, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren, Megan Pannell, Billy Wayne Pannell and Connor Wilson, all of Saltillo.
Pallbearers will be L.C. McCullough, Jimmy McCullough, Douglas Holmes, Jeffrey Holmes, Mike Pope and Kenny Poe.
