- William Curtis "W.C. - Bill" Wheeler, Jr., 86 , passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the hospice unit of North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Tupelo June 27, 1931 to the late William Curtis Wheeler, Sr. and the late Bertha Morgan Wheeler. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Japan. After returning home from the Army, he lived in Michigan City, Indiana where he was a heavy equipment operator. On March 19, 1954, he married the former Patricia Ann Westphal. He was a hard worker and after moving to Saltillo in 1977, did several jobs including carpenter work, road grading and up-keep of the roads in the Lake Piomingo area. He was a man with many talents and was always busy before becoming disabled.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Patricia Wheeler; two daughters, Brenda Brooks and her special friend, Glynn Smith of Saltillo, Sherry Sims and her husband, Patrick of Westville, Indiana; one son, Michael Wheeler and life partner, Dennis Laubeinstein of Pheonix, Arizona; one sister, Jean Walters and her husband, Gene of Tupelo; two special friends Janet Jones of Saltillo and Kenny Hansen and his wife Judy of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Michelle Sims, Rachel Keith and Brittney Carillo and her husband, Ace; nine great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Wheeler and one niece, Debra Witcher Jones.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors, Saltillo.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Eric Sanford officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Huey Armstrong, Patrick Armstrong, Kevin Hughes, Roger Walters, Kenny Hansen, Billy Sheffield, Johnny Hopper and Gene Walters.
