WILLIAM TOM LUMMUS
Tupelo - WILLIAM T. LUMMUS, Jr. 85, died Friday, August 10, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A San Angelo, Texas native, he was born May 29, 1922 to the late William T. and Mardecia Page Lummus. He had lived in the Mooreville and Eggville area since he was nine years old until retiring to Traceway Retirement Community and later the Leeper home at the Green Houses at Traceway. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in Normandy, Northern France, The Rhineland and Central Europe. He was retired from Rockwell International. A longtime member of Mooreville United Methodist Church, he sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school, and was chairman of the Mooreville and Boguefala cemetery committee for many years.
Services will be 2 p. m. Sunday, August 12, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Robert McCoy and Rev. Sammy Washburn officiating. Burial will be in Mooreville Cemetery.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Pat Herring of Tupelo, Jon Bailey and husband, Danny, of Saltillo, Dean Wood and husband, Russell, of Tupelo, J. E. Marcy of Mooreville, Danny Marcy and wife, Cathy of the Eggville Community, and 12 other nieces and nephews living out of the area..
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Clytee Marcy; one brother, Ovalee "Ike" Lummus.
Pallbearers will be his great nephews, Brad Marcy, Blake Marcy, Jason Marcy, Shane Marcy, Tom Herring, Kevin Wood, Neal Haygood, and Kelly Wood.
Honorary pallbearer will be Brent Marcy.
