William Ramsey

BILL RAMSEY, SR.

Tupelo - William "Bill" Ramsey Sr., 70, died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Sept. 20, 1935, in Attala County to the late C.E. Sr. and Minerva Ramsey of Jackson. He graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1954, attended Hinds Jinior College and enlisted in the Air National Guard. He was a charter member of the 183rd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. He completed a course in photography at the Air Force Academy at Lowery Air Force Base in Colorado, graduating at the top of his class. He served his country for nine years in the Air Guard from 1953 to 1962.

He began working for School Pictures Inc. in 1956. He moved to Tupelo in 1963 and opened Tupelo Photo Service, later changing the name to Ramsey Photography. He took school pictures across North Mississippi for 49 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 43 years and a member of the Adult 4 Sunday School Class.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Bryant Barnes and the Rev. Mark Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Frances Anne Haywood Ramsey of Tupelo; four sons, Bart Ramsey and wife, Kathy, and Scott Ramsey and wife, Gay, all of Tupelo, Mark Ramsey of Dallas, Texas, and John Ramsey and wife, Lorie of Brandon; nine grandchildren, Barton, Annelisa, Jessica, Tyler, Stone, Taite, Cody, Caleb and Little John; two brothers, Lee Ramsey and Charles Ramsey, both of Clinton; and a sister, Rebecca Triplett of Senatobia.

Pallbearers will be his sons, Bart, Scott, Mark and john; his grandson, Barton; his brothers-in-law, Glenn Triplett, Charles Haywood and Fred Hahn. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, his brothers, his sister and the Adult 4 Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until servie time Monday at the funeral home.
