William "Bill" H Russell

Columbus-William “Bill “Hubert Russell, 83, passed away peacefully at his residence in Columbus, Mississippi, on February 19, 2018. Mr. Russell was born in Ecru, Mississippi on February 21, 1934 to the late Raymond and Mildred Russell. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 19. After his service in the Navy, he worked at Columbus Air force Base with the Civil Service as a Foreman in the heat shop, where he later retired.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Billie Lorraine Russell; sons, Stephen Russell and his wife, Kelly of Melborne, Florida, John P. Russell and his wife, Rhonda of Waynesboro, Georgia, and Ted L. Russell and his wife, Shannon of Walkertown, North Carolina; niece, April Junkin and her husband, Herman of Steens, Mississippi; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Joe Owens and husband, David of Memphis, Tennessee and Mary Spence and husband, John of Memphis, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Anne McMillen and Francis Dale Hawkins.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
