WILLIAM I. (Dinah) GREENHILL

TUPELOWilliam I. (Dinah) Greenhill, 93, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Greenhouses of Traceway after a lengthy illness. He was born May 1, 1912, to the late Joel Whitten and Fannie Helen Patterson Greenhill in Verona. A life long resident of Tupelo, he worked at Tupelo Cotton Mill and Longs Laundry and Cleaners and later owned and operated Greenhills Grocery on Green Street. He was a very active and faithful member of First Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was an avid sports enthusiast, having played semi-pro baseball for the Tupelo Cotton Mill team back in the 1930s. He was the widower of Emma Lee Belk who passed away February 9, 2002. They had been married for 68 years.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Gayle Alexander, Rev. Otis Henderson, and Rev. Rick Ball officiating. Burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include two daughters, Dr. E. Dianne Greenhill of Memphis, TN and Karen Greenhill Krusa and husband Dr. Charles (Chuck) Greenhill and their children, Dustin Harvey Krusa and William Clayton Krusa, all of Crossville, TN; and one niece, Frances Daughtery, of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be W.T. Cross, Jack McFerren, Jim Long Livingston, Brian Henderson, Dr. John W. Bowlin, Charles Pettigrew, and Wa;yne Turner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ministerial Staff and Ministry Assistants of First Baptist Church, the Thursday Senior lunch group, and Opal Womack.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
