William Edward Glass

WILLIAM EDWARD GLASS

Longview Community - William Edward Glass, 84, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A native of Tennessee, he was born September 4, 1921 to the late Harvie and Sophia Williams Glass. He served in the United States Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was retired from Super Sagless and enjoyed playing bingo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don McPhearson officiating. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gearldean Sanderson Glass, of the Longview community; nine children, Brenda Tutor and husband, Herbert, of Randolph, Norma Cook and husband, Wayne, of Tupelo, Glenda Raines and husband, Alan, of Randolph, Kathy White and husband, Doyle, of Pontotoc, Wayne Glass of Mooreville, Sharon "Rosie" Bannister, of Pontotoc, Phyllis McKoin and husband, Jack, of Tupelo, Denise DeVaughn and husband, Ricky, of Egypt, and Patricia "Trish" Glass of the home; one sister, Virginia "Gin" Gearin of Gleason, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Cleveland P. "Buck" Glass and William Edward Glass; a daughter, Francis Elizabeth Glass; and three sisters, Margaret Jones, Lee Carroll, and Jewel Southward.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006.
