Belden - William George ?Willie? Emmons, 66, died Sunday, February 17, 2013, at The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born in Memphis on September 8, 1946 to George Washington and Bessie Harvell Emmons. He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tupelo. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Corey Truett officiating. Burial will be in West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Emmons, of Belden; his children, Marty Emmons (E C) of Belden and Frank Emmons of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Chappell, William, Maggie and Thomas Emmons; two sisters, Betty Ray of Southaven and Wanda Smith of Tallahassee, Florida; one brother, Bobby Emmons (Dixie) of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billie Joe Emmons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Gordon, Larry Hester, Frank Tutor, Russell Seward, Jerry Burkett, Sr., Jerry Burkett, Jr. and Norman Merryman.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the funeral home.
