TupeloWilliam H. "Bill Elmore, 76, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at his residence. An Alabama native, he was born June 28, 1929, to the late Claudie A. and Dessie Porter Elmore. He had been a resident of Tupelo for over 40 years. A member of the U.S. Air force, he served from 1952 until 1956 in the Korean Conflict. He served as a district manager for Liberty National Life Insurance for 28 years and was a C.L.U. underwriter. He loved Alabama football and enjoyed golf, gardening, computer, and most of all, his family. An avid golf enthusiast, he was a member of three golf clubs and owned three golf carts. He was a former member of Civitan and was a 32nd degree Mason. A faithful and dedicated member of Tupelos First Baptist Church, he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He dearly loved the Lord, his family and all people.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at First Baptist Church of Tupelo with Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances Pate Elmore; two daughters, Kay Randle and husband, Bill, of Perkasie, Penn, Sandy Brandon and husband, Ronnie, of Tupelo; two sons, Terry "Ace Elmore and wife, Mary Ann, of Fulton, and Roger Elmore of Tupelo; one sister, Nancy Keasler and husband, Scott of Reform, Ala.; three brothers, Gerald Elmore of Demopolis, Ala, Ray Elmore and wife, Nita, of Ethelsville, Ala, Ted Elmore and wife, Martha, of Northport, Ala; eight grandchildren, Mary Frances Strange, and husband, Nathan, of Tupelo, Ben Elmore, Betsy Elmore, and Bryan Elmore, all of Orlando, Fla.; Drew Randle of Pennsylvania; Steve Randle, Jennie Henley, and Christy Younce; one great-grandson, Ethan Strange.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Jay Elmore.
Pallbearers will be Ben Elmore, Bryan Elmore, Drew Randle, Nathan Strange, Elmer Clark, Danny Riley, and Bob Kelly.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School class and the deacons at First Baptist Church, Liberty National employees and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
