ODELL CLARK
Tupelo - WILLIAM ODELL CLARK, 71, died Monday, January 29, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native and life long resident of Tupelo, he was born February 22, 1935 to the late Oliver Edward and Novie Lavell Hand Clark. He was a graduate of Tupelo High School and attented Itawamba Junior Colleges Law Extension Course and FBI seminars. He served 22 years with the Tupelo Police Department, retiring as shift captain in 1983. He also owned and operated Clark's Bait Shop which he purchased in 1982. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening, and his dogs, Mitzi and Max. He attended East Heights Baptist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Marvin Murphy officiating. Burial with law enforcement honors will be in Doty Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Betty Jean Oswalt Clark of Tupelo; two daughters, Debbie Clark and Kathy Clark Tucker and husband, John, all of Tupelo; one sister, Jo Ann Grimes of Tupelo; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lavell Park; and two brothers, Edward and Eugene Clark.
Pallbearers will be Lee Clark, Jimmy Clark, Scotty Clark, Bobby Grimes, Jay Oswalt, and Terry Park.
