William A. "Bill" Sisk

August 21, 1939 — February 19, 2013

BILL SISK Tupelo-William Arnold (Bill) Sisk died at North Mississippi Medical Center on February 19, 2013, after a brief illness. Bill was born in Houston, MS, on August 21, 1939, to Willie and Susie Sisk. He graduated from Houston High School. From there he served in the U.S. Army and later the National Guard. After being stationed in El Paso, TX, with the U.S. Army, he went to work at Babcock and Wilcox in West Point, KBH Corporation in Clarksdale, CIT Corporation, and First National Bank in Helena, Arkansas. He worked at Renasant Bank in Tupelo for 30 years, retiring in 2010. Bill was ordained as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Helena, Arkansas. He had been an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo since 1981, serving as a deacon and chairman of ushers. He loved meeting and greeting each person that came to Calvary. He was often the first person that one met upon entering the sanctuary. In retirement, Bill found great joy in serving others as he and Betty delivered Meals on Wheels to seniors and others in the community. He loved his Lord, his wife, his family, and his church. He loved Tupelo High School sports, following them for over 30 years as their "honorary sideline coach." He loved to spend his Sunday afternoons watching film with the coaching staff. His heart was also in Starkville with his Bulldogs as he supported the athletic teams at home and on the road. The service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, February 22nd, at 2 p.m., with Dr. David Eldridge and Rev. Steve Hurt officiating. Burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park following the service. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty; his sons, Alan (Ann Marie) of Nashville, TN, and David (Amanda) of Charleston, SC; and his grandchildren: Ella, Lowry, Bailey, and Xan Sisk. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Edna Sisk; his sister, Mary Ruth Brassfield; his brother, Quinn Aaron Sisk; and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Lowry. Pallbearers will be Joe Bailey, Terry Black, Gary Bonds, Lawson McClellan, Allen Maxwell, Danny Porter, Billy Scruggs, Richard Sisk, James Sloan, George Taylor, and Malcolm Wesson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adult 4 Sunday School Class, Ricky Black, Bobby Lewis Gann, Tommy Higginbotham, Harold Hinchey, Mickey Linder, Jim McAlpin, Bob Monroe, Calvin Roberson, Dan Steele, Scott Suber, Roger White, and Larry Witcher. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 21st, at Calvary Baptist Church and one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be given to the Calvary Baptist Church Building fund, 501 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS, 38804; Hope Family Ministries, 2754 Mattox Street, Tupelo, MS 38801; or Tree of Life Clinic P.O.
