William (Bill) Green

October 30, 1930 — June 22, 2010

Tupelo - William H. (Bill) Green, 79, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Jumpertown native, he was born October 30, 1930 to Lloyd Levi and Ethel Pink Yates Green. A graduate of Jumpertown High School, he went on to attend Northeast Junior College. He was a United States Air Force veteran, where he served as a supply sergeant during the Korean Conflict. With over 35 years of service, he retired in 1990 from Rockwell International (Delta) as a payroll supervisor. One of the things he enjoyed was antique cars. Also, he was an avid reader. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Hershel Wiygul and Minister Robert Kingsley officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Wanda Green of Tupelo; one daughter, Cheri Green Jones of Tupelo; one sister, Carlyon Koon (Arthur) of New Albany; three grandchildren, Greg Jones (Marsha), Brian Jones (Jessica), and Amanda Johnson (Branyan) all of Pontotoc; six great grandchildren, Preston Jones, Spencer Johnson, Haley Jones, Olivia Jones, Maddox Jones, and Benjamin Jones .

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marie Green.

Pallbearers will be Greg and Brian Jones, Branyan Johnson, Spencer Johnson, Preston Jones, and Steve Koon.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the funeral home.
