Wayne Beasley

October 13, 1925 — July 10, 2018

Horace Wayne Beasley, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born October 13, 1925, to Ezra and Linnie Lee Lindsey Beasley. He attended Itawamba Agricultural High School and Mississippi State University. On December 20, 1946, he married Sara Nell Black. He and his wife owned and operated Beasley Construction Company. Wayne served in the United States Army as a Master Sergeant in the 89th Infantry during WWII and the Korean Conflict. For a number of years, he served as President of the Mississippi Road and Transportation Builders Association, as a member of American Road and Transportation Builders Association and a member of Tupelo Luncheon Civitan. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. He also found great joy traveling, especially to Destin, Florida. For over 60 years, he was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and served in many administrative positions.



Survivors include three children, Pat Beasley and his wife, Monia of Amory, Sherrie Sheffield of Columbus and Mitzi Brock and her husband, Al of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Ryan Sheffield and his wife, Amy of Columbus, Georgia, Hayley Hedrick of Kennesaw, Georgia, William Brock and his wife, Rachel of  Ogden, Utah Lindsey Dickerson and her husband, Paul of Potts Camp, Sara Katherine Vaughn and her husband, Justin of Gulf Port, Patrick Beasley of Tupelo, and Coleman Brock of Atlanta, Georgia; and six great-grandchildren, Anders Hedrick, Mary Gunter Hedrick, Sadler Hedrick, Carolina Sheffield, Rollins Sheffield and Abigail Brock.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Gerald Beasley; and one son-in-law, Rodney Sheffield.



Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time, Friday, July 13, 2018, at St. Mark United Methodist Church.



Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at St. Mark United Methodist Church. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow in Wiygul Memorial Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.



Pallbearers will be Justin Vaughn, Patrick Beasley, Jr., Coleman Brock, Paul Dickerson, Williams Brock and Ryan Sheffield.



Honorary pallbearers will be the members of St. Mark United Methodist Church, his Wellness Center buddies and his Saturday morning Hardee's coffee group.
