WALTON COOPER

Tupelo - HARRIS WALTON COOPER, 85, died Friday, August 10, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born July 16, 1922, in Union to the late James Oliver and Emma Nicolena Hunter Cooper. He moved to Tupelo in 1924 and graduated from Tupelo High School in 1941. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing tennis. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during Warld War II in Okinawa as a third class petty officer. A longtime realtor and Mississippi certified real estate appraiser, he was a past president of the North Mississippi Board of Realtors and past director of the Mississippi Association of Realtors. He was a mason and a member of Lodge 318 in Tupelo Since 1946. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at All Saints Episcopal Church with Rev. Michael Lippard and Rev. Gene Asbury officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Dieckmann and husband Harry, Kim Long and husband Jerry, Anne Owen and husband Henry; grandchildren, Amy Benninghofen and husband Jeff, Dr. Cooper Ogg and husband Garrett, Hunter Owen, Jackson Owen, Drew Dieckmann and wife Karen, and Nicole Dieckmann; great-grandchildren Dottie Benninghofen and Thomas Dieckmann; niece, Carol Lynn Lesmeister and husband Warren, nephew Cooper Prude and wife Barbara; stepdaughter, Stephanie Whatley and husband Scotty; step grandson Dayton Rogers; and a very dear friend Katherine Collier of Greenwood.

Pallbearers will be Harry Dieckmann, Jerry Long, Henry Owen, Jeff Benninghofen, Dr. Garrett Ogg, Jackson Owen, Hunter Owen and Dayton Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers are Tom Barnett, George Watson, Jim Couch, Charles McGill, Jim Long Livingston, Dan Matthews, Dan Ballard, Richard Porter, Henry Brevard, Jim Allen and Mayor Ed Neelly.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
