Walter Markham

February 5, 1932 — August 14, 2010

Old Union Community - Walter (Junior) Markham, 78, died Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born February 5, 1932 to Walter and Estelle Spearman Markham. He was retired from B & B Concrete after 34 years of service as a truck driver. He loved his family, enjoyed gardening, yard work, and his dog Tater. He was a Baptist by faith.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Billy Langley officiating. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy Lavell Causey Markham of Old Union Community; one son, Walter Shorty Markham (Sharon); one daughter, Nell Taylor (Dennis); two grandchildren, Mark Taylor and Morgan Taylor of the Old Union Community; two sisters, Earlene Wilson of Pontotoc, Mary Ruth Ridings of Nettleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lois Herring; two brothers, Charles Markham and Clinton Markham.

Pallbearers will be Paul Sisk, Larry Rowland, Jerry Ellis, Mike Hutcheson, Joey Wilson, and Mike Wilson.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the funeral home.
