Mooreville - Walter Earl Griggs, 59, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center unexpectedly. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 28, 1953 to Earl P. and Bernice Mayhall Griggs. He married his wife of 26 years, Brenda, on July 3, 1986. Since 1989, he was the owner and operator of Griggs Mobile Home. He loved to work, help others, and earlier in his life, fishing. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Tildon, Mississippi. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Shane Ray officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife Brenda Jernigan Griggs of Mooreville; three children, Beverly Griggs of Amory, Denice Morgan (Jimmy) of Amory, Steven Griggs (Melissa) of Mooreville; four step-children, Doris Brewer (Bobby) of Greenwood Springs, Wanda Blair of Smithville, Keith Thompson (Shelly) of Mooreville, Chasney Glass of Mooreville; eight grandchildren, Whitney, William, Alaina, Gabby, Katherine, Shelby, Erika, Annah; sixteen step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Glenda Rogers of Smithville, Eloise Moffitt (Steve) of Becker, Dale Harden of Fulton; one brother, Lee Griggs (Wanda) of Amory. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Earl Griggs. Pallbearers will be Patrick Thompson, Randy Hallmark, Brian Jones, Steve Bishop, Ronny Griggs, and Ricky Stanford. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sonny Lyons, Andew Stanford, and James Harden. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the funeral home.
