VIVIAN FILGO

Tupelo - Vivian Kennedy Filgo, 93, died Thursday, February 8, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Choctaw Co. native, she was born February 21, 1913 to the late Ross and Ida Rhodes Kennedy. She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and a retired public school teacher who taught at Mooreville and Rankin Elementary, ending her 30 years of teaching at Thomas Street Elementary. She was the widow of the late Rev. Travis Alton Filgo. She was a member of Belden United Methodist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Randy Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in Belden Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, James Thomas Filgo and wife, Barbara of the Auburn Community and John Frank Filgo and wife, Jackie of Montgomery, Ala.; six grandchildren, Jamie White of Tupelo, Melissa Richey of Senatobia, Doug Filgo of Mantachie, Greg Filgo of Tupelo, Jack Reese of Montgomery, Ala., and Marianne Dobbins of Birmingham, Ala., nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Travis Jr.; four brothers, Ernest Kennedy, Bernice Kennedy, Louie Kennedy, Beauford Kennedy; and two sisters, Novice Carr and Dee Ray.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Doug Filgo, Greg Filgo, John White, Scotty Richey, Drew Dobbins, and Cody Richey.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
