VIRGINIA GARRISON
Tupelo - VIRGINIA LEE GARRISON, 82, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at her residence after an extended illness. A Jonesboro, Arkansas native, she was born December 8, 1924 to the late Burien T. and Minnie M. Cook. A longtime resident of Tupelo, she was retired from Red Rooster Dress Shop after many years of service. She enjoyed watching birds outside her window and received much joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Paul Brashier officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Cox and husband, David, of Tupelo and Loretta Beasley and husband, James, of Crystal Springs; six grandchildren, Cliff Cox and wife, Ally, of Tupelo, Jennifer Burleson and husband, Jeff, of Shannon, Sarah Rein and husband, Trey, of Florence, Lane Beasley of Jackson, Anna Beasley of Crystal Springs, and Lance Gay of Quitman; nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ernest A. Garrison; a daughter, Wanda L. Gay and a grandson, John Christopher Gay, IV.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Cox, Jeff Burleson, Lane Beasley, Trey Rein, Peyton Rawls, and Mark Hudson.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service time Friday at the funeral home.
