VIRGINIA FOUNTAIN BURT
Tupelo -- Virginia Fountain Burt, 97, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Green Houses At Traceway after an extended illness. A Nettleton native, she was born August 28, 1909 to the late Sam and Mattie Sue Thomas Burt. She had been an employee of Reed's Department Store for over 30 years and also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Wesson, retiring after 25 years. She loved to travel with her two sisters and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed needle point. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church since 1921, which gave her the distinction of having longest membership in the church's history.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Larry Humbert and Rev. Hershel Wiygul officiating. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Erin B. Caldwell of Tupelo; a special niece and caregiver, Evelyn B. Wofford, of Batesville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews..
Pallbearers will be Dick Vaughn, Stephen Humbert, Philip Humbert, and Jeff Rickels.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Shahbazim at Traceway.
Visitation will be 11:30 until service time Wednesday, May 23, 2007.
