VIOLA CHARLEEN PIERSON

Tupelo - Viola Charleen Pierson, 78, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, she was born October 15, 1927 to Laura Jenkins Moore and the late Colon B. Moore. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework and reading her Bible. She loved people and was well loved in return. She was a Pentecostal.

Graveside Services were held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at Tupelo Memorial Park with Rev. James Sanders officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Emery and Carrie Beth Matthews, both of Mantachie; her mother, Laura Humphrey of Michigan; three sisters, Irene Farrar, of Michigan, Gerry Dickerson Parnell and husband, Bill, of Tupelo, and Betty McDonald of Michigan; one adopted grandson, Jonathan Pierson; one daughter-in-law, Joanne Pierson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carl Frederick Pierson; one son, Bobby Pierson; her step-mother, Carrie Gilpin Moore.
