Tupelo - Vincent Anthony Romito, 74, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A native of New York, he was born September 6, 1934 to Vincent and Philomena Rizzetta Romito. He was a career U.S. Navy veteran and served in Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 35 years. He moved to Tupelo in 2001. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Father Bob Komnopa officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Corinth National Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Doris Romito of Tupelo; one brother, Anthoney Romito (Catherine) of New York; three sisters-in-law, Olita Romito of New York, Linda Paden (Elkin) of Tilden and Lucy Priest of Blue Springs; one brother-in-law, Buddy Priest (Betty) of Blue Springs; his two nephews, Matthew Romito and Anthony Romito both of New York; niece, Laura Fusalo of New York; his caregivers, Sid and Sandy Russell of Pontotoc; several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Matthew Romito; a niece, Suzanne Romito and a nephew, James Romito.
Visitation will be 2:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
