Vernon Shook

Mooreville - Vernon Odell Shook, 72, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Muscle Shoals, he was born February 20, 1938 to Claude and Rosella Coggins Shook. He was self employed as a concrete finisher for many years. He enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions. He was a dedicated member of Allen's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Andrews Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Chris McAlilly officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, LaVonia Stokes Shook of Mooreville; his daughter, Katrina Shannon (James) of Brewer; one sister, Rose Marie Shook; two brothers, Gary Shook (Norma) and Bill Shook (Marissa), all of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; one grandson, Walker McClain Shannon of Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mack and Claudie Shook.

Pallbearers will be James Shannon, Mark Oglesby, Mitchell Oglesby, Jimmy Shannon and Will Rogers.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
