Vernie Blaylock

Tupelo - Vernie Dew Blaylock, 88, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at her residence after an extended illness. A Hamilton native, she was born December 11, 1922, to David J. and Jettie B. Northington Peoples. She was retired from Richey Furniture Manufacturing, where she worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family, whom she loved very much.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Wesley Kingsley and Bro. Paul Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Center Star Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Reynolds of Mantachie, Wanda Dill (Jimmy) of Mooreville, and Peggy Bailey of New Albany; Six sons, Terry Ray Blaylock (Mary) of Fulton, James Olen Blaylock of Tupelo, Douglas Blaylock of Mantachie, Charles W. Blaylock of Tupelo, Bobby Joe Blaylock of Tupelo, Billy Wade Blaylock (Faye) of Tupelo; three sisters, Marie Guin (Prentiss) of the Houston Community, Hilma Ann Ramey (Gene) of Mantachie, Jean Wilson (Emmett) of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Bill Peoples of Tupelo; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband B. M. Blaylock who died in March of 1996; one daughter, Betty Faye Blaylock; one son-in-law, Dale Reynolds; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Blaylock; two sisters and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Terry Reynolds, Jason Bailey, Chris Blaylock, David Kemp, Jon Campbell and Brain Depriest

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Bailey, Tommy Jackson and Josh Blaylock.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at the funeral home.
