Auburn - Vernece Christian Robbins, 71, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Pontotoc County native, she was born December 25, 1936 to the late Thomas Dallas and Lizzie Jane Clement Curry. She worked for several years as a seamstress. She was a member of Auburn Baptist Church.
Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Phillip McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 25 years, Rush Robbins of Auburn; four daughters, Gail Whitaker and husband, Steve, of Mooreville, Charlotte Ingram and husband Tarrer, of West Point, Karen Franks and husband, Travis, of Mooreville, and Angie Guy and husband, Mick, of Unity; one son, Chuck Christian and wife, Marcy, of Auburn; one step daughter, Teresa Clayton of Mooreville; eight grandchildren, Nicole Graham and husband, Adam, Bronson Finney and wife, Kristin, Carmen Smith and husband, Jeff, Brian Franks, Russ and Anna Paige Christian, Olivia and Lane Whitaker; three step-grandchildren, Summer Rupert and husband, Josh, Brandy Estes and husband, Davie, Shawn Clayton; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Avory, Caden Graham, Kallie Smith, Cole, Jordan, Ava Finney, Clayton Rupert, Boston Estes; two sisters, Ethel O'Barr and Mary Alice Williams; and two brothers, Charles and Hugh Curry; a special friend, James Warren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Christian; two sisters, Ruby Tutor and Audrey Hatley; and two brothers, Joe and Bill Curry.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
