VERNA JONES

Mooreville - Verna Rose Jones, 73, died Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born in Quitman County on July 15, 1939, to Joseph Brooks Baker, Sr. and Lila Mae Crocker Baker. She was the owner of Jireh Cuts, Verna?s Wigs and East Main Wig Shop. She loved reading her Bible, spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved to cook for her family. She was a Christian by faith.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joe Dye officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 57 years, Keith Jones; two daughters, Cindy Brown (Eric) of Saltillo and Lindy Thompson of Mooreville; one step-daughter, Debbie Sheffield of Mooreville; one brother, Joe B. Baker of Pickens; eight grandchildren, Brooke Jones (Jared) of Nettleton, Trish Lamm (Mitch) of Starkville, Ethan Williams (Lillie) of Plantersville, Dusty Thompson (Samantha) of Fulton, Josh Thompson, Erica Brown, Zach Brown all of Mooreville and Daniel Anderson (Crissy) of Nettleton; six great-grandchildren, Seth, Tyler, Silus, Kaylin, Karly and Lila.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Alice Hiott; and a great-grandson, Jonas Malechi Jones.

Her family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
