Velma Lott

June 6, 1923 — September 16, 2009

Guntown - Velma Rush Lott, 86, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Cedars Heathcare Center after an extended illness. A longtime resident of Guntown, she was born in Pontotoc County June 6, 1923 to John Henry and Elizabeth Pearl McCord Rush. She was a homemaker, but earlier in her life she worked in the garment plant in Guntown. She enjoyed quilting, flowers and vegetable gardening and loved to fish. She was the widow of Virgil Lott who died May 7, 1998 She was a member of First Baptist Church of Guntown where she attended the Bryson Sunday School Class.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Bobby Robbins and Rev. Phillip McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Campbelltown Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Tutor and Linda McCoy, both of Guntown; six grandchildren, Jerry Tutor of Pontotoc, Deloris Stewart (David) of Pontotoc, Greg Tutor (Polly) of Peppertown, Larry McCoy (Tabatha) of Guntown, Jeff McCoy (Sissy) of Mantachie, Darla Roberts (Billy) of Guntown; her sister, Thelma Bishop of Guntown; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Maxine Malone of Guntown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Virgil Lott; one son-in-law, Larry McCoy; one brother, four sisters.

Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Kyle Tutor, Bruce Tutor, Duston Tutor, Charles Stewart, Zack McCoy, Mark McCoy, and Logan Jones.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
