Van (Bim) Rogers

Tupelo - Van K. Bim Rogers, Jr., 80, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A native and lifelong resident of Tupelo, he was born October 10, 1929 to Van K. and Wilburn Hampton Rogers. A 1947 graduate of Tupelo High School, he then went on to the University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated in 1954. He served in the 31st Division of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1990 he retired from Bims Kwik Pik, which he owned and operated for over 25 years. He was a member of the Tupelo Kiwanis Club and a longtime member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2010, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Donny Riley officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gwen Polk Rogers of Tupelo; three sons, Kin Rogers (Kathy) of Pensacola, Florida, Chris Rogers (Holly) of Tupelo, Hamp Rogers (Melinda) of Victoria, Texas; three grandchildren, Kyle Rogers (Brittany) of Tupelo, Ashlee Rogers of Victoria, Texas, Kory Rogers (Fiance Ben Hunter) both of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Neal Houston, Jim Houston, Ken Houston, Hoyt Richey, Paul Lanphere, and John Wigginton.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, 154 Elvis Presley Drive, Tupelo, MS 38804.
