Vallie Huckaby

March 6, 1928 — April 11, 2011

Mooreville - Vallie McCord Huckaby, 83, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Residence after an extended illness. A native of Oxford, she was born March 6, 1928 to Dewey and Connie May Inmon McCord. For 15 years she worked as a seamstress for H.I.S. Sportswear in Verona where she retired. After her retirement she worked for Styleline Furniture in Verona. She loved sewing, crocheting, fishing and feeding her birds. She loved her family, all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog Midget. She attended a baptist church.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Ronald Pannell officiating.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Huckaby of Mooreville; one daughter-in-law, Jean Huckaby Hendrix of Baldwyn; one son-in-law, Charles D. Carter of Mooreville; one sister, Hazel McKeowen of Bartlett, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Leslie Carter (Tonya) of Mooreville, Randy Huckaby (Jessica) of Pontotoc, Shelia Black (John) of Tupelo, Raymond "Bubba" Huckaby of Ozark Community, Amy Gann (Richard) of Pontotoc, Carla Gant (Chris) of Mooreville and Brandy Hall (Tory) of Saltillo; two great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norris Eugene Huckaby; one daughter, Cherry H. Carter; one son, Buddy Huckaby; one sister, Thelma Haley Tracy; one Brother, Thomas McCord.


Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
