Saltillo - Tyler Sloan, 20, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Union County. He was born December 4, 1989 in Memphis, Tennessee to Tommy and Kristi Ellington Sloan. He was very athletic and loved participating in multiple sports including football and baseball. He also played church league ball and coached a little league team. After graduation in 2008 from Saltillo High School, he attended Northeast Community College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. While there, he was awarded a scholarship to Mississippi State University. He was currently a junior at Mississippi State majoring in Occupational Therapy. He was a member of Northstar Church and also attended Parkway Baptist Church.

Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Ledbetter and Paul Brashier officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his parents, Tommy and Kristi Sloan of Saltillo; two sisters, Bailey and Madeline Sloan of Saltillo; grandparents, James and Wanda Sloan of Tupelo and James and Billie Ellington of Enid; great grandmother, Evelyn Nanney of Tupelo; two aunts, Jamie Taylor (Randy) of Saltillo and Tammye Saxton (Larry) of Canton; one uncle, Marty Ellington (Dixie) of Oxford; and five cousins.

Pallbearers will be Adam Hall, Bryson Kimbrough, Tyler Parsons, Will Nichols, Dee Coleman, Austin Davis, Wesley Wilemon, Drew Chism, Ross Livingston and Wesley Bell.

Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
