Tupelo - Trudie Lee Irvin Pennington, 89, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center due to an extended illness. A Hamilton, Alabama native, she was born October 4, 1921 to Walter Finis and Earlie Knight Irvin. On July 9, 1941, she married Elmer Doyle Pennington in Tremont. She was an avid gardener who for many years arranged flowers for East Heights Baptist Church where she was a member. In the late 1970s she began work at Busylad Rent-All. There she worked for twenty-nine years helping to establish a bridal consultation and events planning business where she worked full time until age 80 and part-time until 2007. For the past three years she resided at The Meadows, Daniel Health Care Inc. in Fulton.

Services will be 11:00 a. m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Glenn Shows officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include two sons, Doyle L. Pennington (Celeste) of Estes Park, Colorado and Joe L. Pennington (Marilyn) of Jackson, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer Doyle Pennington in August 21, 2000, one brother, Wayne Fint Pennington; one infant sister.

Pallbearers will be Harry Armstrong, Dewayne Daniel, Charles Davis, Charles Lee, Buddy Palmer and Buddy Stubbs.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the funeral home.
