Tupelo- Troy Dell Raines, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at his home. He was born February 13, 1935, to Troy Claude Raines and Teenie Myrtle Taylor Raines in Saltillo. In 1956, Troy married Betty Jean Raines and together they have two children. After 40 years, Troy retired from the Building Supply Business. He was a member of Emanuel Baptist and attended The Orchard Tupelo. He was an avid Ole Miss Fan and enjoys hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include his children, Roger Raines and his wife, Lori of Belden and Sheila Raines of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; grandchildren, Nikki Abney and her husband, Tommy of the Mt. Vernon Community, Scott Trotter and wife, Ashley Quillen of Muscles Shoals, Alabama, Madison Raines Belk and husband, Matt of Tupelo and Hunter Raines and wife, Sophie of Memphis, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Noah Cox, Anna Lauren Abney, Natalie Trotter, Lilah Raines and Brinley Trotter; sister, Emily Flanagin and husband, Billy of Saltillo.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean Raines; parents, Troy and Myrtle Raines; sister and brother-in-law, Lola Mae Dunn and Huel Dunn and grandson, Joshua Raines.
Services will be 7 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jay Stanley officiating. A private family burial will follow at a later date.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until service time Friday, March 23, 2018 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Society, 1900 Dunbarton Drive, Suite 1, Jackson, MS 39216.
