Shannon - Travis Wade Pitts, 48, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Oakland, California on October 16, 1963 to Malcolm Douglas and Charlotte Woodall Pitts. He graduated from Shannon High School in 1982. He served as an honorable member of the United States Army with the Airborne Rangers and also with the Army National Guard in Fulton. He worked for sixteen years with Cooper Tire and was currently employed with Total Transportation Trucking. He had a love for motorcycles, karaoke and taking pictures of sunsets. Services with military honors will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Shannon. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Burleson Pitts of Shannon; two children, Josh Pitts (Finacee, Caroline Goines) of Dorsey and Julieanna Pitts Manscoe (Zackery) of Pontotoc; grandchild, Isabella Pitts Manscoe; one brother, Marty Pitts (Gale) of Guntown; two sisters, Gail Powell (Merrill) of Pontotoc and RaDonna Roberts of Coldwater; one step-son, Dustin Parker of the home; the mother of his children, Melissa Christopher (Finacee, Charlie Holloway) of Amory; his very special in-laws, David and Mary Christopher; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Krista Pitts; his parents; his grandparents, Jennie and William Woodall and Velma and Thomas Pitts. Pallbearers will be Larry Koln, Matthew Malone, Jon Stanford, Martin Pitts, Dustin Parker and Merrill Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Skyler Collins, Austin Dunsford, Zackery Manscoe, Logan Powell and Brent Powell. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the funeral home.
