Trannie Lee “T. L.” Ellis, Jr. Tupelo- Trannie Lee “T. L.” Ellis, Jr., 86, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after a brief illness. He was born on June 7, 1929 to Trannie Lee and Kate Sisk Ellis. On December 5, 1953 he married Earline Cates of Mantachie. He was a charter member of Old Union Baptist Church and a deacon for more than 50 years. His career included driving transport trucks for Robbins Oil and Barbers Milk. As a lifelong farmer, he enjoyed driving his John Deere tractors, cutting hay, and tending to his cows. He was a family man who loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In the last few years of his life, he enjoyed riding his golf cart to visit with family and check on his fields. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday January 12, 2016 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues, with Rev. Bob O’Neil and Rev. Marvin Murphy officiating. Graveside services to follow at Old Union Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Ellis. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Earline Ellis; one son, Jerry Ellis (Charlotte) of Shannon; two daughters, Patsy Harris (Randy) of Shannon and Sandra Armstrong (Daniel) of Smithville; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Simmons (Charles), Matt Ellis (Bethany), Brandon Harris (Theresa), Brittany Tutor (Dustin), Quena Armstrong, Misty Benson (Eric), Melanie Bennett (Scott), Kaitlin Murff (Brandon), Laken Armstrong, Josh Armstrong and twelve great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two special caregivers Willie and Helen Wren. Pallbearers will be Matt Ellis, Brandon Harris, Josh Armstrong, Dustin Tutor, Eric Benson, Charles Simmons, Kyle Simmons and Eli Simmons.
