TRACY E, LORD

Tracy Eugene Lord, 80, died March 26, 2007 after bravely fighting cancer for seven years. Tracy was born in February 1927 in Clayton, Michigan to the late Hiram Tracy and Elizabeth Lord. He married the love of his life, Connie Lou Cisco, on December 31, 1947.

Tracy joined the Navy in 1943 and served as a signalman on the USS LCI(G) 438, USS LST 1010 and USS Heron in the South Pacific during WW II. He received numerous medals and citations. When he returned from the service, Tracy began working for Tecumseh Products in Tecumseh, Michigan in July of 1947.

In 1975, Tracy and Connie moved to Tupelo, MS to open Tecumseh Products in Verona. While managing the plant, Tracys new position gave him the opportunity to be of service to many new people who he thought of as, not employees, but family. Employees responded to his calm, patient and fair attitude with trust, friendship and loyalty. Tracy often said that his job was made easier because the diligence and innovation of his employees.

Tracys life was marked by care for his fellow man. His vision contributed significantly to Itawamba Community College, his community and church. After retiring in 1989, he and Connie moved to Florida for fifteen years. Due to Tracys illness, they returned to Tupelo in December 2005, in order to be closer to family and friends.

Tracy treasured the calls, prayers, cards, and visits from family, friends and former employees. He was very thankful for the care he received from the doctors, nurses, nurses assistants, and the staff of the Cancer Center and North Mississippi Medical Center. Tracys family is extremely grateful for the care and counsel given by North Mississippi Medical Center-HOSPICE during his last days.

Tracy was a member and Trustee at the First United Methodist Church, a member of Rotary, Community Development Foundation (CDF), North Mississippi Medical Center Hospital, the American Legion, a Life member of the Masonic Lodge in Tecumseh, Michigan and a member of the National LCI Organization.

Tracy always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling and golfing.

Tracy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Connie Lord, one son David (Lolo) of Ypsilanti, MI, two daughters: Marcia (Robert) Lemon of Louisville, KY and Michele (Bill) Watkins of Tupelo. Six grandchildren: Melanie Roush, Michael (Cindy) Lemon, Matthew (Cassandra) Lemon, Mariah (Jim) Taylor, Adam Lord, and Marcus (Wendy) Phelps. Seven great-grand children: Tia Shoemaker, Courtney and Nicholas Roush, Cole and Trey Lemon, Cheyenne and Palmer Phelps, and one sweet puppy, Susie.

Survivors include three brothers: George (Donna) of Millbrook, AL, Lloyd ( Irene) of Ocala, FL, and Paul ( Marion) of London, Ontario. Four sisters: Ruth Griffith of Sebastian, FL, Cynthia Rayman of Kalamazoo, MI, Mary Lord of Sebastian, FL, and Charlene (Doug) Farrell of Chatham, Ontario, one sister-in-law, Helen Lord Anderson, and many loved nephews. nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold Lord, and stepfather Earl Lohnes.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services for Tracy Lord will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Ray officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
