TOMMY McCOY Thomas Lee (Tommy) McCoy, 60, of Tupelo, MS, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. He was born November 26, 1953, in East Tupelo to Lawrence Noel and Katie Lee Putt McCoy. Tommy was employed for over 25 years with Delta International as a quality control supervisor. He enjoyed all sports and played football and ran track while attending Lawhon and Tupelo High School. He especially enjoyed golfing with his regular group; socializing with his brothers, sister, and friends at numerous local eateries; and was happiest spending time with his sweetheart, Rose, three sons, and ten grandchildren, who affectionately called him Papaw. Tommy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2014, at East Heights Baptist Church in Tupelo, where he was a life-long member, with Dr. Tim Brown officiating and Dr. Randy McCoy, cousin, delivering the eulogy. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. A graveside will follow the service at Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Tommy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rose (Anderson) McCoy; sons Scott (Amber) of Greenwood, IN; Neal (Holly); and Guy (Amy), all of Tupelo. Grandchildren, Brittney, Anderson, Titus, Mary Drucilla, Mac, Gavin, South, Smythe, Carter Cate, and Addie Mae. He is also survived by two brothers; Jimmy (Cotton) McCoy, Charles Phillip (Kay) McCoy, both of Tupelo; and one sister, Sandra McCoy (Steve) Estes of Plantersville; brothers-in-law; Danny Wayne (Lynn) Sample of Fultondale, AL, and Gerald (Mary) Anderson of Tupelo; many loved nieces, nephews, extended family, and very special friends Will, Grace, Cooper, and Sadie Grace Troxler of Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lawrence Ray McCoy and Larry Gene McCoy. Pallbearers will be his golfing friends; Howard Bailey, Leo Hamm, Buddy Long, George Rutledge, Charlie Williamson, and F.G. Wiygul, with Don Byrd and Billy Nichols serving as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to East Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, Sanctuary Hospice House, or a charity of your choice.
