Tommy Carruth

October 20, 1965 — May 23, 2023

Belden—Tommy Carruth passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was 57 years old. A lifelong resident of Belden, he was born October 20, 1965 to Richard and Louise Morgan Carruth. After graduating from Mooreville High School in 1983, Tommy then went on to Mississippi State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in animal science. A man with a strong work ethic, Tommy and his wife, Julie, were the owners of Carruth Lawn Service for 35 years. He was a faithful member of Belden Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also active in his community, serving on the Boards of the North Lee Hunting Club and the Belden Fire Departments. Tommy was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and boating with family, friends, and his dog, Tye. More than getting a big buck himself, he delighted in seeing his kids’ hunting success. Another beloved past-time for Tommy was good-natured teasing. He loved to pick with the people he cared about, especially if he had concocted something particularly witty and funny.

Tommy is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Julie Harlow Carruth; two children, Carley Barkley (Matthew), and Mitch Carruth, all of Belden; one sister, Tammy Goddard (Roy) of Alpine; one nephew, Brandon Goddard (Bethany) of Guntown; one niece, Brittany Thompson (Brent) of Booneville; one aunt, Joellen Irving of Dorsey; one uncle, William Morgan of Bethlehem, Georgia; and special family, Jerry Doris and Toni Page.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and parents-in-law, Kenneth Maye and Susan Harlow.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring Tommy’s life will be 4 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Bro. Gary Gray officiating. Graveside services will follow at Lee Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Page, Gary Byrd, Henry Behms, Jacky Hill, Rafael Milan, Brandon Goddard, Christian Salinas, Brad Swain, and Paul White. Honorary pallbearers will be Laine Mason, Joe Scott, Buddy Clayton, William Riley, and Willie Payne.
