Mooreville - Tom Schmoeller, 70, died Saturday, August 22 at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born November 9, 1944, in Alton, Illinois to the late LeRoy Schmoeller and June Winters Schmoeller. He graduated from Southwestern High School and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Illinois. In June of 1964 he married Diana Weber. They had two children, Tom and Sheryl. Tom served two years in the Army, one in Vietnam. He was employed by Owens Illinois. He served as an elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Brighton. He also served as a school board member at Southwestern School District. In 1988 he moved to Tupelo where he was employed at Hunter Douglas. He later worked at Triumph Inc. in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In 2011 he and his wife moved back to Mooreville. Tom enjoyed playing and coaching many sports, Disney trips, telling stories, and participating in his children's and grandchildren's activities. Tom was a wonderful father, and an awesome Poppy. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and was always happy to be with them. Tom is survived by his mother June, his wife Diana, two children Thomas (Melissa)Schmoeller, Sheryl (Wilton) Cooper, and eight grandchildren Mazzie, Autumn, Caroline, Kadence Cooper, Lena and Andrea Mansir, Genesis, and Grayson, two brothers Joe (Eva) Schmoeller, David (Estelle) Schmoeller, one sister Linda (Gary) Ressler, nieces and nephews Terry (Judy), Dwayne (Julie), Dave (Nikki), Vickie, Michele (Ron), Stephanie (Andy). Services will 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ron Richardson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Church.
