Tupelo—Thomas Lee Scott , at the age of 70, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 at the North Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by his adoring family. A Tupelo native and lifelong resident, he was born May 15, 1952 to J.T. and Annie Lou McMullen Scott. He was a graduate of Tupelo High School and Itawamba Community College. On July 2, 1982 he married the love of his life, Pamela Maddox Scott and they most recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. Thomas began his career in the jewelry business at the age of 16 with Riley’s Jewelry Store delivering gifts all around Tupelo. He then worked for Brassfield’s and Way-Fil Jewelry learning his watchmaker’s trade. In 1999, he opened Scott’s Watch and Jewelry. His shop became a familiar landmark in Tupelo where customers would come to not only get their watches repaired, but often to enjoy his company and perhaps a bit of gossip. Thomas liked to think he kept Tupelo “running on time.”
Thomas was a lifelong member of East Heights Baptist Church, serving on multiple committees, most proud of his role as a deacon. He came to know Christ as his personal Savior at the age of eight. He loved anything East Heights Baptist Church.
To say Thomas was an avid Ole Miss and Tupelo High School sports fan would be an understatement. Whether home or away, there was no doubt he was going to be there to support his team.
To keep up with Tupelo happenings and solve the world’s problems, he met friends once a week at Connie’s for coffee, a chicken biscuit, and a blueberry doughnut.
His family was his world and he will be greatly missed by each of them.
He leaves behind his wife, Pam Scott of Tupelo; two daughters, Tracy Scott of Meridian and Amy Reed (Bo) of Tupelo; sister, Shirley Green (Jim), of Southaven; and brother, Junior Scott (Lisa), of Tupelo; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 21,2022 at East Heights Baptist Church, with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. Bro. Nathan Fitts will officiate, and son-in-law, Bo Reed will deliver the eulogy. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Bobby Maddox, Jr., Trey Maddox, Wesley Loague, Rodger Loague, Steve Williams, Clarence Justice, Ronnie Thomas, and Tim Howell.
