Blue SpringsThomas P. Russell Jr. 63, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at his residence after a brief illness. A native of Canonsburg, Pa., he was born October 25, 1943, to the late Thomas Paul Sr. and Edith Frazier Russell. He enjoyed stockcar racing, playing golf, watching football, camping, listening to country music, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was baptized at age 9 and was a Methodist.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Father Henry Shelton officiating. Inurnment will be at Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Caroline L. Russell of Blue Springs; one son, Christian A. Goepfert of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Gale L. Nicolai and husband, Steven, of Dundee, Mich. and Karoliene L. Oswalt and husband, Johnny, of Blue Springs; two brothers, Charles Russell and wife, Diane, of Thornton, Col. and Bernard Russell and wife, Mary, of Highland Falls, New York; seven grandchildren, Matthew J. Ellis, Joshua P. Ellis, Jesse A. Ellis, and Steven B. Nicolai Jr., all of Dundee Mich., M. Shawn Oswalt of Nettleton, Morgan R. Oswalt and Zacary T. Oswalt, both of Blue Springs; one great granddaughter, Sara D. Oswalt of Nettleton.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Russell and Edith Hershman.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
