Thomas Milford Overley, 86, died Monday, January 5, 2009, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. A native of Missouri, he was born August 7, 1922 to William and Maude Overley. A U.S. Army veteran, he served his country during World War II. He was a professional horseman and trainer. he was an avid gardener with a special passion for roses.
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, Mo. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include wife of 65 years, Helen Hollywood Overley of Tupelo; two daughters, Garra Owens (Hank) of Tupelo and Tammy Tallent (Garry) of Whitefish, Montana; his son-in-law, Mike Simmons of Norman, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose (Kevin) of Tupelo, Ariel Owens of Tupelo, Lauren Simmons of Norman, OK, Olivia Tallent and Isaac Tallent, both of Whitefish, and Clay Simmons and Meredith Simmons Smith (Drew), all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three great-grandchildren, Lilee and Walter Rose of Tupelo and Madeline Smith of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Belle Pottishman of Chicago, Ill. and Maude Bergman of Wake Forrest, North Carolina; and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Hollywood (Georgia) of Marshall, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carol Overley Simmons; three sisters and two brothers.
