ED COLLINS
Tupelo - THOMAS EDWARD"ED" COLLINS, 94, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born October 31, 1912 to the late Edward Cleveland and Lila Mabry Collins. He served in 31st and 155th Infantry Division Medical Department in the South Pacific. He retired after 25 years of service from The United States Post Office. He was a past member of the Tupelo Luncheon Civitan Club and had served as treasurer. He enjoyed golf, the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Randy Von Kanel and Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Geneva Reedy Collins, one son, Tom R. Collins (Gail) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Emory Nash (Sheila) of Independence, Mo., Lauren Waldrop (Justin) of Tupelo, and Tommy Collins of Tupelo; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Madison Nash of Independence, Mo.; five sisters-in-law, Lillian Estes, Barbara Prude (Cooper) of Tupelo, Glynn Servis of Alburquerque, NM, Peggy Curtis (John) and Julia Reedy of Selmer, Tenn.; two brothers-in-law, John Reedy (Merlene) and Bill "Dub" Cross of Tupelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Collins, Justin Waldrop, Joe Gary, Elton Putnam, Ron Blackwell, Dr. John Bowlin, Jack Chancy, and Wayne Turner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Simmons, Elmer Clark, Maurice Hill, Ken Burnside, J.C. Pettigrew, Allen Wilson, and Dennis Stafford.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
