Don Barnett
TUPELO - Thomas Rawdon "Don" Barnett, 55, died Friday, April 28, 2006, at his home in Tupelo after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Tupelo and the son of Thomas Moore Barnett and Nona Joyce McGuire Barnett. He was the maintenance manager at the Behavioral Health Clinic on Eason Boulevard before taking early retirement. He was a former employee of the Tupelo Police Department for four years and a former employee of the Lee County Sheriff's Department for 15 years. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He served in the 155th Mississippi National Guard and attained the rank of sergeant. An avid cartoonist, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, skydiving and waterskiing. He was a real friend who loved to laugh and to make everyone laugh.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. The Rev. Lavelle Woodrick will officiate, and the Rev. Mike Hicks will assist. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 25 1/2 years, Pam Barnett of Tupelo; one sister, Linda Sanford of Tupelo; his parents, Tom and Joyce Barnett of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, L.R. and Merle Rhodes McGuire, and S.J. and Ruth Bettersworth Barnett.
Pallbearers will be Dale Mowry, Bryan Leland, Shane Brown, Mike Lollar, Jeff Tritch and Chris Clark.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Aycock, Ray Aycock Jr., David Blackwood, Scotty Whatley and Robert Herring.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center or Hospice Care at the North Mississippi Medical Center.
