Tupelo - Theresa C. Davis, 89, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Brooklyn, New York June 6, 1928, to John and Christine Botti Scarpa. Early in life, she worked as a bookkeeper in Long Island, New York where she met Leon Davis and moved with him to his home of Tupelo. On October 8, 1949, they married and had one son. Theresa received great joy in studying her Bible, had a charitable heart and often donated to numerous charities. She lived her life helping others with prayer anyway she could and dutifully maintained a prayer request list. Until her failing health, she and her husband attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Leon Davis of Tupelo; one son, Wayne Davis, Sr. and his wife, Cathy of Rienzi; three grandsons, Wayne Davis, Jr. of Saltillo, Beau Hendershot of West Frsankfort, Illinois and Jason Hendershot and his wife, Shawn of Windsor, Illinois; one granddaughter, Amy C. Sanford and her husband, Chris of Mooreville; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Santa Falk.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring her life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Elbert Ray Bennett officiating. Graveside services will follow in Crossroads Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Davis, Jr., Hayden Davis, Chris Sanford, Austin Sanford, and Frankie Sanford.
