THELMA BLAYLOCK HALEY Tupelo - Thelma Blaylock Haley, 97, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born in Murray, Kentucky on December 21, 1917, to Arthur Scott and Gertrude Geist Blaylock. She was raised in Okolona and had graduated from Okolona High School. She went on to receive her Bachelors of Science degree from Mississippi State College for Women. On November 22,1941, Thlma married Frank G. Haley. They moved to Tupelo in 1954 where she worked along with her husband in several business interest. She was office manager at Tupelo Community Antenna (Comcast) for a number of years. She later worked by his side at Busylad Rentals and Safe Alarm Company. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church since joining 61 years ago and had taught in the children's Sunday school department for 55 years. She also worked in the Youth Bible Drills. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Lee Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Yates officiating and close friend, Lynn McAlpin giving the eulogy. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. She leaves behind two nieces, Donna Blaylock Slater (Lewis) of Brandon and Glenda Blaylock West of the Brewer Community; one nephew, Skipper Conyers (Linda) of Gainsville, Georgia; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews and a special friend, Patricia Bobo (George) of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Hazel Blaylock and two brothers, Harold Thomas Blaylock and Arthur Scott Blaylock, Jr. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 12:30 pm. Friday, May 29, 2015, W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church's Children's Ministry, Post Office Box 1008, Tupelo, Mississippi 38802.
