Thelma Carson

Brewer Community " Thelma E. Granny Polly Carson, 96, died Wednesday, May 21, 2009, at the Shearer- Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona. A Lee County native, she was born December 19, 1912 to John Thomas and Ethel Russell Bowles. For most of her life she lived in the Brewer community. Early in her life, she enjoyed farming with her husband. After working for a while at Delta Trouser in Okolona, she then went on to work for the North Mississippi Medical Centers Pediatric Unit, where she retired. She then did private nursing for many years. She loved taking care of people. The hymn A Beautiful Life was her favorite song.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Sean Tutor and the Rev. William E. Bill Harrison officiating. Burial will in the Old Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Doris Sue Jolly of Okolona, Jackie Boggan of Pearl, Tensie Carnathan (David) of Brewer Community; a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and her extended family, the staff and residences of the Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lindsey E. Carson; one daughter, Annie M. Carson; and one son, Thomas S. Carson. She was the last of her siblings.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Burrow, Clay Mask, Joey McFarling, Jon McFarling, Ben Robbins, and Keith Wiseman.

Visitation will be 5 " 9 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942 or the charity of your choice.
